This is a motion that amends the Constitution.

Title: Executive Committee Composition

Mover: Patrick Leistner

Motion: To amend the current language of Section 2 of the LPF Constitution to the
below language:

The Executive Committee shall be composed of the Officers, and three (3)
Directors At-Large, and one (1) Regional Representative for each region
elected at the Annual Business Meeting within the provision of the Bylaws.

Mover: Patrick Leistner

Rationale: The purpose of this motion is to eliminate positions from the EC bringing it
down to a more manageable size. We currently have a twenty-one (21)
person EC which is much larger than most EC’s around the country. I
believe this would free up a number of volunteers to focus on Support
Committees or campaigns instead of EC meetings and reports.

With this change I would move the responsibilities of Region Reps to the
Affiliate Support Committee where each Region would still have a position
to work with the LPF to affiliate new counties as the primary focus of the
Committee. In my opinion, this makes much more sense than having RRs
split time between focusing on LPF EC meetings representing their current
affiliates and working to affiliate new counties.

Looking forward, if it is determined that seven (7) is not a large enough
EC or that the affiliates we do have are not being properly represented at
the state level, I’d be very open to bringing back Region Representatives
in the future in a manner that matches the size and needs of the LPF. In
my opinion, this would mean in a manner that isn’t based on arbitrary
geographical lines and that would be determined by the members of individual
counties.
